About Antioch Baptist Church

Antioch Baptist Church was founded in 1895 and has been a thriving part of the Hampton, Va. area since its inception. Today Antioch serves as a vital spiritual resource as it spreads the Word of God through out the surrounding community. Under the leadership of Dr. Raymond L. Lassiter Jr.  Antioch provides a holistic ministry and worship experience.

 Reverend Dr. Raymond L. Lassiter, Jr., is a native of Kelford, North Carolina. He received the BA Degree in Religion and Philosophy from Shaw University and the Master of Divinity Degree from Shaw Divinity School in Raleigh, North Carolina. On May 9, 1981 the Shaw Divinity School conferred upon him the Honorary Doctor of Divinity Degree.

Dr. Lassiter is the esteemed pastor of the Antioch Baptist Church in Hampton, Virginia. He brings years of experience having pastored in North Carolina for 10 years and 20 years in Philadelphia, Pa.  He continues to be a visionary pastor and is committed to a holistic ministry.

 He is especially gifted in promoting the cause of Christ.  He has preached in many parts of this nation and has traveled abroad proclaiming His Word.

 In February of 1996, he spent the month traveling with the Preaching Team of the National Baptist Convention USA, Inc. They traveled to South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia, Malawi and Lesotho. He has also preached in South Korea, and has traveled to Egypt, Jordan, and Israel.

 Dr. Lassiter’s long and distinguished career in the community is a true reflection of his noble spirit and high principles. He serves on various religious and community boards and commissions.

Dr. Lassiter is married to the former Cynthia Hardy of Roxobel, North Carolina and they are the proud parents of two daughters, Kenya (Aaron) and Mellanie and a son Amandla LaVar Lassiter. They are the proud grandparents of Tyler and Zoey.
