About US

  

The AIM Center is a 501c3, organization established by Antioch Baptist Church in 2003. The mission of the AIM Center is to provide community, education, social and recreational programs to strengthen the quality of life for residents of the City of Hampton Buckroe and surrounding communities on the Virginia Peninsula. Since its inception, the AIM Center has operated a Tutorial Program for Youth, Health and Wellness for adults, a Senior Circle dedicated to the well-being of community seniors, Computer training for adults as well as a Soup Kitchen, Food Pantry and Clothing program for food insecure, homeless and hungry individuals and families. Vaccination Clinics and Community Health Education Seminars were provided to inform protect individuals and communities about the dangers of contacting the Covid-19 Virus.

WELCOME TO THE AIM CENTER

FEEDING - Soup Kitchen

  • DAY:                   Wednesday
  • DURATION:  September 25, 2024 - June 11, 2025
  • TIME:                  11:00 am - 1:00 pm


  • The Soup Kitchen is our most popular program and service to the community.  Volunteers prepare and distribute grocery bags to help food insecure and homeless individuals and families meet their weekly nutritional needs.  Staff and volunteers offer encouragement and make referrals to social service agencies to address other needs as they arise.

CLOTHING - CLOTHES CLOSET

  • DAY:                    Wednesday
  • DURATION:   September 25, 2024 - June 11, 2025
  • TIME:                   11:00 am - 1:00 pm


  • The goal of the Clothes Closet is to make it possible for individuals and families to have the clothing they need to function and feel comfortable in today's society.  New and gently used clothing is available.  Our services help individuals maintain their dignity and provide opportunities to improve their lives.

EDUCATION/ TRAINING

COMPUTER BASICS:  Computer Basics is a beginning level course for adults who need to learn to use computers to operate in today's technological environment.

  • Introduction to Windows 11
  • Working with Files
  • Introduction to the Internet
  • How to use Email

INTERMEDIATE and ADVANCED:  Intermediate and Advanced courses teach students specific features in Microsoft Office.

  • How to Set Up and Operate Zoom and other Virtual Meeting Platforms

SENIOR CIRCLE

  • DAY:                    Tuesday and Thursday
  • DURATION:   October 24, 2024 - June 12, 2025
  • TIME:                   3:00 am - 4:00 pm


  • The Senior Circle is an environment for retired and older adults to meet and fellowship while participating in health and wellness activities that enhance their lives.  Activities focus on healthy eating, exercise, insurances, cancer, housing, and finances. 

After School TUTORING

  • DAYS:                  Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday
  • DURATION:   October 3, 2024 - May 22, 2025
  • TIME:                   4:00 pm - 6:00 pm


  • The tutorial program provides academic tutoring, remediation, encouragement to help students increase grade performance, build strong character and self-esteem.  The program serves students in grade levels 3-12.  Tutoring is provided in face-to-face and virtual learning environments in:


  • Algebra 
  • Math
  • Reading
  • Reading and Math Remediation
  • Science
  • Social Studies
